You’ve spent time learning the principles of Natural Lifemanship.
Now it’s time to live them more fully through practice.
Natural Lifemanship® Practicum
Four Days of Practice, Presence, and Connection
The Work Deepens Here
To help practitioners move more seamlessly from learning into embodied practice, we have combined our Fundamentals and Intensive Practicums into one unified four-day experience designed to make in-person training more accessible, cohesive, and supportive of different learning paths.
What was once offered as two separate practicums is now one shared Practicum experience. This simply means that after completing either the Fundamentals of NL or the NL Intensive, you are welcome to continue your learning through the Practicum.
For those pursuing NL Certification, this in-person Practicum is also a required part of the certification journey, fulfilling Step 5 and providing the relational, embodied learning experience that certification is designed to cultivate.
This Practicum Is for You If…
- You’ve completed either the Fundamentals of NL or the NL Intensive
- You are pursuing NL Certification and are ready to complete Step 5 of the certification journey
- You want hands-on experience applying NL principles in real time
- You value direct feedback and in-person guidance
- You want to deepen your therapeutic presence and relational awareness
- You long to practice in community with others who share your passion for healing and connection
The NL Practicum is our heart and soul.
“The NL Practicum really brought the online learning information together in the most meaningful way. This was a very powerful training––one of the best I have ever attended.”

In-Person Practice Matters
There are some things that can only be learned through experience. Through the NL Practicum, you will work alongside seasoned NL professionals who will guide you as you practice connection, attunement, regulation, observation, and relational repair in real time.
Over four immersive days, you’ll have the opportunity to slow down, notice more deeply, and refine the subtle skills that shape impactful equine-assisted work. Here’s what to expect:
Hands-On Experience
Practice the principles you’ve been studying through experiential work with horses, including connection, observation, consent, attachment, regulation, and communication. You’ll learn through doing, receiving guidance moment by moment as you build deeper awareness and skill.
Skilled Guidance & Feedback
Receive in-vivo support from experienced NL trainers who will help you refine your facilitation skills, strengthen your understanding of relationships and trauma, and deepen your therapeutic presence.
Embodied Learning
You’ll explore how your own nervous system, attachment patterns, and relational tendencies influence the way you show up with horses, clients, and yourself.
Community
One of the most meaningful parts of the Practicum experience is the community that forms within it.
You’ll practice alongside mental health professionals, equine professionals, educators, coaches, and helpers from around the world who are committed to relational, trauma-informed care.
“The Fundamentals Practicum was profound! This was one of the most valuable trainings I have attended as a clinician! I am excited to share with clients the principles/techniques I learned to further their growth! As an educator/clinician/AAT-I, I highly recommend Natural Lifemanship!”

Frequently Asked Questions
Are there prerequisites for attending the Practicum?
Yes. To qualify for the Practicum, you must have completed either the Fundamentals of NL or the NL Intensive training. This helps ensure participants arrive with a foundational understanding of Natural Lifemanship principles before stepping into the experiential training environment.
Is the Practicum required for certification?
Yes. For those pursuing NL Certification, the Practicum is a required part of the certification journey. This in-person experience fulfills Step 5 of NL Certification and provides the relational, embodied practice that cannot be replicated through online learning alone. It is where concepts move from understanding into lived skill through real-time practice, feedback, and guided integration.
Why should I reserve my spot early?
Practicum groups are intentionally kept small to support individualized feedback, meaningful connection, and experiential learning. Spots can fill quickly, especially at certain locations throughout the year.
How many people attend each Practicum?
To create a more connected and supportive learning environment, Practicum groups remain intentionally small, with no more than 12 participants in each cohort.
I completed Fundamentals or Intensive in the past. Can I still attend the Practicum?
Yes. Participants who have previously completed either Fundamentals or Intensive training are welcome to attend the Practicum and continue deepening their experiential learning and practice.
What’s different about the new combined Practicum?
What was previously offered as separate Fundamentals and Intensive Practicums has now been combined into one unified four-day Practicum experience. This updated structure gives participants greater flexibility in choosing when to complete their required in-person training as they move through certification, while also ensuring that every certification student receives the same core experiential learning, shared standards, and depth of practice.
By training together in one practicum model, we are able to preserve the integrity and fidelity of the certification journey while making the pathway more accessible and adaptable to different learning timelines.
Why is the Practicum now four days?
Participants will engage in experiential exercises focused on connection, attunement, regulation, facilitation skills, observation, communication, attachment, and relational awareness through work with horses and humans.
Are CE credits available for this training?
Yes. 25 CE credits are awarded. Natural Lifemanship is an NBCC Approved Continuing Education Provider (ACEP #6807). You must attend the training in its entirety, sign in and out each day, and complete a post-training evaluation and related assignments.
