Building Your Resilience

A Series of Self-Care Workshops Created to Nurture Your Caring Heart.

Making a living by offering others your unconditional care and support is no easy feat. You show up for each and every client and do your best to be your full, authentic, loving and boundaried self, every day.

Working in the mental health and helping professions can be psychologically and emotionally taxing. We all know, intellectually, that we need deep and restorative self-care in order to be at our best. It is what we encourage our clients to practice. Yet, are we really doing it for ourselves?

About Building Your Resilience

The Natural Lifemanship Institute, in collaboration with our students and partner sites, has developed the Building Your Resilience online series to provide opportunities for profound self-care, through mindfulness, meditation, art, journaling, self-reflection, and more.

Choose from the following workshops and give yourself the restorative care you need to best support your clients.

30 Requests in 30 Days

Life and relationships begin with requests. This is the science of relationships and attachment theory. But the requests we make matter – and how we make them matters, too.

In 30 Requests in 30 Days, you’ll practice making requests of your horse, and, of course, attuning to and responding to your horse’s responses and requests. Each day, you will receive a prompt for spending intentional time with your horse. These prompts are designed to give you dedicated time and space to practice attunement and reflect on your relationship with your horse in community with others who are doing the same.

Members: $30
Non-Members: $99

30 Requests in 30 Days is a follow-up to the Coming Home to the Body Series, but participating in Coming Home to the Body is not a requirement.

NL Members save 69% on this training alone! And that’s just one of many benefits of members. If you’re not yet an NL Member and you want to save on this course and many others, join us.

Here’s a look at what you’ll experience in 30 Requests in 30 Days.

Aligning With the Seasons

In Coming Home to the Body, we learned to turn inward in Winter – listening to your body and finding ways to regulate it.

In Spring, we are exploring new beginnings and reaching out to grasp what is on the horizon.

Now it’s time for practice. We’ll take what we’ve learned about our own bodies and our regulation into our relationship with horses, embracing the energy of springtime.

Making Requests of Your Horse

Each day, you will receive a prompt for intentional time spent with your horses. We’ll post the prompt in the forum each evening so you can review it before the next day begins.

Reflecting in Community

Once a week we will come together on Zoom for a discussion lead by Tanner Jobe, to share and process your experience within our community. Sharing will also happen in the group forum.

Coming Home to the Body: Tools for Embodiment

With Mark Taylor and Kate Naylor

Winter is the time for hibernation, slowing down, moving within, and listening deeply to our bodies. In Coming Home to the Body, each short session will provide a tool for you to inhabit your body consciously by coming into relationship with your inner sensory world.

The tools and explorations—addressing simple themes that unite the body, mind, emotions, and spirit—will be transferable to your work in the world with clients, students, and horses.

After the spring equinox, we will begin to freshen the senses and sensory organs, allowing us to move into the greening environment with curiosity and innocence, maintaining the intention of providing tools for awareness and integration.

Members: $29
Non-Members: $299

Recordings will be available while the course is in session for those who register.

NL Members save $270 on this training alone! And that’s just one of many benefits of members. If you’re not yet an NL Member and you want to save on this course and many others, join us.

Here’s a look at what you’ll experience in Coming Home to the Body with Mark Taylor and Kate Naylor.

Winter Ceremony: Nurturing the Hearth Within (January 30)

January 30 at 5:00 pm CST

In this ceremony led by Kate Naylor, we will seek the hearth within us, the ever present light that calls us home to ourselves even in the darkest winters of our lives. As we tend to this fire that burns at the core of our being, we remember that in all darkness, there is life waiting to begin again.  Let the warmth there permeate out into the winter that surrounds us this season. Together, we will turn inward and allow creativity in body, mind, and soul to fan the flames flickering within.

Tools for Embodiment: B-weekly Sessions (February 1 - March 19)

Between February 1 through March 19, each short session, led by Mark Taylor, will provide you a tool for you to inhabit your body consciously by coming into relationship with your inner sensory world – honoring the energy of winter.   Sessions will be held every Tuesday and Thursday at 6:00 pm CST.

What to bring to each session:

  • A place to sit
  • A place to move
  • A place to lie down
  • A sense of humor
  • A sense of awe
  • A notepad and writing utensil

Spring Ceremony: Welcoming the Dawn (March 21)

March 21 at 10:00 am CST

Spring is a time of new beginnings – the sun begins to shine with more strength, imparting energy to the Earth and all her inhabitants.  It’s a time  to birth  something new, reach out into the light, and grasp  what is possible.  Join Kate Naylor for this morning ceremony – together we will celebrate the dawning of  Spring’s energy and allow it to engage  us, moving us forward into a new day, a new year, a new set of possibilities.

Tools for Embodiment: B-weekly Sessions (March 26 - April 4)

Between March 26 – April 4 sessions with Mark will shift toward the energy of Spring, allowing us to move into the greening environment with curiosity and innocence, maintaining the intention of providing tools for awareness and integration.

      A Note About Seasonal Cermonies

Equine Assisted Services are also nature-based services. When we take clients outdoors, nature becomes an organic participant in the process and the change of seasons is a part of that experience. Every few months we let go of what has been and welcome what is coming. It is an opportunity to pause and notice both the literal and the metaphorical.

Observing the seasons in your sessions offers you and your clients another chance to explore the reality and beauty of time. Join us for winter and spring ceremonies as we pause and consider the wisdom that the seasons, and nature herself, have to share.
