PotomacIllinois4192047128remolemichael@gmail.comMichael has nearly two decades of working with children and families in a variety of settings, including as a Children’s Pastor, Camp Counselor and speaker, VBS Director, Multi-Systemic Therapist & as a clinician. He was the first male to graduate from Olivet Nazarene University with a degree in children’s ministty. After serving as a Children’s pastor, he went on to obtain his Master or Arts in Clinical Counseling from Ashland Theological Seminary. While finishing up his counseling degree, Michael worked with his parents, Stan and Mary Remole, with the start up of Hooves of Hope. Following seminary, Michael worked in Columbus Ohio as a Multi-Systemic Therapist at The Buckeye Ranch, working with individuals 12-18 and their families. A majority of these youth were court ordered and were given one more chance before being placed in a residential treatment facility or long-term juvenile jail. The primary focus was to help change the family system to help assist the child change their delinquent and defiant behaviors.

Many families encounter times when they need additional support from outside sources. Gateway Family Services of Illinois provides unique, individualized plans to meet the needs of each family we serve. Offering intensive therapeutic services, from Trauma Focused-Equine Assisted Psychotherapy, EC-EMDR, play, sand, art and nature based therapies.

Client and families will participate in Trauma Focused- Equine Assisted Psychotherapy utilizing the Natural Lifemanship model. The focus of sessions is all about relationships; activating the parts of the brain that have been impacted by trauma.
Providing families with in-home therapeutic services to address challenging behaviors experienced at home, school and within the community. Clinicians work closely with the parents to develop individualized plans that will address the needs of each child, while applying the Natural Lifemanship principles to assist the client in developing healthy relationships with self and others.

Michael has completed Phase II for the Neurosequential Model of Therapeutics with Bruce D. Perry MD, PhD, and is currently enrolled in Phase III/Mentor.

Michael is also enrolled in the UC Davis, Infant Parent Child Institute in Napa California. He is an Infant/Early Childhood Mental Health Consultant for the State of Illinois.

Michael has received his EMDR Specialist certificate from Ana Gomez, MC, LPC with the AGATE Institute.
