I came to counseling later in life. I was self-employed in an entirely different business for over 30 years. During that time, my wife and I adopted 5 children through the foster care system in Texas. They came individually at different ages and from different backgrounds, some quite traumatic. I have seen and experienced significant effects of developmental trauma as I have parented my children. After obtaining my counseling degree, I was privileged to work with Karyn Purvis at the TCU Institute of Child Development and learned about how trauma affects the brain through the research that they and others have done over the past 20 years. I am excited to be able to learn more about how to practically open doors for my clients through the TF-EAP program. I am now practicing NL TF-EAP at our property just east of Dallas with my wife as the equine professional on the team. I am enthusiastic about the hope this therapy brings for so many people constrained by their history.
